Our Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure Sustainable Classrooms stays true to its mission. Their dedication, expertise, and passion drive our vision forward, helping us create lasting impact in the communities we serve.

Founder, Executive Director

Jestine Lackner

Jestine earned her B.S. in Business Management and HR from the University of Idaho, along with other impactful certifications. She is passionate about education, environmental sustainability, and creating lasting community impact. Whether working with her team in Togo, spending time with family in Montana, or exploring the outdoors in Idaho, Jestine remains dedicated to Sustainable Classrooms’ mission.

Secretary

Kylie Frohlich

Kylie received her Master’s in Exercise Science from the University of Montana, where she competed in basketball and track. She has plans to pursue further education in healthcare, focusing on preventative health and promoting a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Based in Missoula, MT, Kylie enjoys hiking, reading, spending time on the lake, being with her family.

Treasurer

Jacob Lackner

Jacob received his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace from Montana State University. He is currently a Manufacturing Research & Development Engineer at Boeing in Seattle, WA working to create new tools and processes for commercial aircraft. In Jacob’s free time he enjoys 3D printing, drawing, and hiking outdoors.

Board Member

WHIT SCHROEDER, MPA

Whit holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in Journalism and another in Broadcast Digital Media, as well as a master’s in Public Administration from the University of Idaho. They join TIFO from the private sector, having served as the Marketing and Sales Director for a clean-technology company in the agriculture industry. Prior to that, they held positions in IT, science writing, and marketing. Whit has an extensive background in web and event management, as well as digital media storytelling. They are a founding member and former Executive Director of the Institute for Community Partnerships and Sustainable Development, an organization supporting community-led approaches to ecosystem restoration and community development in Togo. Whit currently works for TerraGraphics International Foundation, a global environmental health nonprofit, as its Development and Outreach manager.  Whit’s expertise in development, marketing, communications, and outreach/engagement in both the public and private sectors helps organizations tell their stories effectively while staying focused on mission and passion. Outside the digital landscape, Whit enjoys tending their green thumb, caring for the gaggle of critters at home, and spending time in nature.

Our Advisory Board is composed of experts and leaders who share a deep commitment to education, sustainability, and community impact. Their diverse knowledge and guidance help shape Sustainable Classrooms' mission, ensuring we continue innovating and making a lasting difference

Kayla Maldonado

Kayla is the founder and owner of Maldonado Bookkeeping Services LLC. Originally from Frenchtown, MT, she now resides in a small coastal town where she runs her business while raising her family. With a deep commitment to helping others, Kayla generously lends her expertise to Sustainable Classrooms, assisting with financial monitoring, organization, and strategic planning. Her dedication and financial insight are invaluable in ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of our mission.

Scott Phillips

Scott is the director of Comma Outdoor Living, a company dedicated to creating sustainable garden products handcrafted in Boise, Idaho, where he resides with his family. He is also the founder of Fives Designs, which creates a new type of toy made from 100% recycled plastic. As a professor in the Micron School of Materials Science & Engineering at Boise State University, he holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and focuses his research on developing environmentally responsible materials, particularly sustainable plastics. His expertise and passion for sustainability make him an invaluable advisor to Sustainable Classrooms as we continue innovating with recycled materials to build brighter futures—brick by brick.
